  • Comprehensive coverage: Covers collision, fire, natural events, snow sliding, theft, animal damage, glass damage, vandalism, and assistance-related damages (e.g., hail, falling snow, theft, collision with animals, glass breakage), excluding interior damages and damages caused by operating errors or vehicle malfunction.

  • Waiver of deductible/bonus loss: Covers the deductible and bonus loss from the vehicle owner's motor vehicle liability and comprehensive insurance.

The terms and conditions with the detailed coverage and exclusions (e.g., operator errors, operational damage, tire damage) can be found here.

Is there a deductible in case of damage?

Yes, in case of damage, the renter bears part of the costs (deductible). The deductible applies per incident, and the renter can choose the amount during the booking process.

Who pays in case of damage — the owner or the renter?

The vehicle is insured by GoMore insurance during the rental period, which is booked by the renter. In the event of an insured incident (according to the terms and conditions), the damage will be covered by GoMore insurance. The renter will be billed for the deductible.

How do I report a damage? Who needs to report it?

Liability/Comprehensive:

The renter must immediately report the incident via the online damage reporting link

Required documents include:

  • Rental documents (including handover protocol and photos)
  • Copy of the vehicle registration

  • European accident report (mandatory for liability damages)

Once reported, Baloise will handle the damage processing and contact the car owner to discuss the next steps. Notify the car owner about the damage number from Baloise.

Roadside assistance:

The renter must report the breakdown immediately via the roadside assistance hotline at 0800 24 80 11 (24-hour service). Have the following information ready:

  • Indicate that this is a GoMore rental (mandatory when reporting the breakdown)
  • Contract number of the insurance
  • If necessary, the original accident report (police report, accident protocol)

What happens if my car is stolen?

The vehicle is insured against loss, destruction, or damage resulting from theft, use theft, or robbery during the rental period, except for gross negligence or omissions (e.g., not locking the vehicle, leaving the ignition key inside, not activating an existing theft alarm or immobilizer). Loss, destruction, or damage due to embezzlement is not covered. In case of theft, the police, the car owner, and Baloise must be notified immediately.

Is the insurance valid for trips abroad? If so, which countries?

The insurance is valid in Europe plus Morocco, Tunisia, and Turkey. There is no coverage for Kosovo, Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan. Transport by sea does not interrupt insurance coverage if the departure and destination locations are within the coverage area.

Does a damage during the rental affect my own vehicle insurance?

If the renter's caused damage is processed through the vehicle owner's liability and/or comprehensive insurance, a bonus surcharge and deductible claim may apply. These additional costs are covered by GoMore insurance under the waiver of deductible/bonus loss.

Can I register my car with GoMore if it is not registered in Switzerland or Liechtenstein?

Vehicles not registered in Switzerland or Liechtenstein are not covered by GoMore insurance.

How does the insurance process work in case of liability damage?

Liability damage must be reported and processed through the vehicle owner's motor vehicle insurance. If the liability insurer excludes commercial and/or paid rentals, GoMore insurance will cover any recovery claims from the mandatory liability insurance.

Do I need to add an additional rental endorsement to my private car insurance if I rent out my car via GoMore, even though the vehicle is insured through Baloise for rentals?

No, as long as the vehicle is rented only through GoMore. If the vehicle is rented through other platforms or privately for a fee, the endorsement is mandatory in your own motor vehicle insurance.

Does the insurance also cover accessories or additional equipment (e.g., roof boxes, towing hitches) of the car?

Yes, attachments to the rented vehicle such as roof boxes, bike carriers, or rooftop tents are also covered.

What happens if the renter causes damage and does not report it?

Without the renter's damage report, a claim cannot be processed. The insurance contract is in the renter's name, so reporting and confirmation by the renter is mandatory.
